our 9th Season… Classic
Christmas Saturday, December 15th 2007 7:30pm The season opens on December 15th, 2007 with our annual Classic Christmas concert, featuring Christmas-themed works from the classical repertoire, as well as traditional songs and carols of the holiday season. This year’s program will highlight music by Scandinavian composers, including Edvard Grieg, Jean Sibelius, and Arne Eggen. As always, the second half of the program will feature a mix of international carols presented in a variety of solo and ensemble arrangements, and performed in original languages. Solid GoldSaturday, March 22nd 2008 7:30pm This entertaining program will focus on the “greatest hits” of the operatic repertoire, including arias and ensembles familiar to audiences through movies, television and advertising. The program will include the famous “Flower Duet” from Délibes’ Lakmé, Bizet’s stirring Pearlfishers duet, as well as arias and scenes from La Bohème, Le Nozze di Figaro and Madama Butterfly. Tales from the Dark SideSaturday, May 3rd 2008 7:30pm Tales from the Dark Side will be filled with the occult, curses, murder and misery - the very things that make opera OPERATIC! David Walsh, Director of Opera at the University of Minnesota, will return to stage dramatic excerpts, including scenes from Verdi’s Rigolettto, Monteverdi’s Orfeo, and Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot.
